The challenge is on, the first of its kind in SA. Firefighters from the Western Cape have challenged the SAPS to beat them at The Grind Obstacle Course Race. So what’s it all about?
The Grind is a competition that includes an 8km run with 30+ natural and man-made obstacles across a course. Competitors will be challenged mentally and physically and will definitely be covered in mud.
The firefighters initiated the process by sending a formal challenge to the police services; they are obviously, looking to back that up with a strong win resulting in bragging rights.
“These guys are as tough as they come and I have a feeling that we may see some pretty competitive finish times.” says Mat Barlett, The Grind Founder.
It doesn’t matter how fast the first few runners come in. All that matters is which team gets ten runners across the line before the other team gets its ten in.
The Grind is not just for the boys in blue and red, anyone can enter, even kids. There are three race options that cater for different ages and fitness levels. It’s a spectator friendly experience from corporate fun seekers to fitness enthusiasts and elite athletes.
Get down to Hillcrest Quarry on 16th and 17th April and support the boys and girls in blue and red . . . or get your mud on and enter The Grind.
